Launched in 2012 via the crowd funding platform Kickstarter, American Trench was founded to bring forward the exceptional manufacturing that exists within the United States. A trench coat purchased in London in 2009 inspired a three-year quest to bring their first product to market – the American Trench. Their product line quickly expanded beyond outerwear as their line of socks caught the attention of retailers. Transitioning from their Kickstarter beginnings has come with working capital challenges. Co-founder Jacob Hurvitz says, “Having C2FO is pretty darned important, because if you’re working with a big retailer you’re looking at 60 days for payment, but my factories don’t want to wait 60 days.”
